My festival fury continues with the 64th annual Newport Jazz Festival, held August 3-5th at the beautiful Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island. Known as one of the most prestigious and oldest jazz festivals, the Newport Jazz Festival offered an abundance of jazz, pop, and rock this year. Set to the backdrop of the small city by the sea, the festival offered close to 60 artists, on four different stages, for 3 days come rain or sunshine.
A favorite for me was artist Charles Lloyd, who was celebrating his 80th birthday. He performed each day of the festival with 3 different bands.

Each day of the festival, the crowd was treated to an undeniable wide range of musical offerings some of which included artists, Andra Day, Pat Metheny, Jose James, Christian McBride, Matthew Whitaker, Badbadnotgood, Living Colour, Marquis Hill, R+R=Now, Jazzmeia Horn, Charenee Wade, Roy Hargrove, ARTEMIS(featuring Cecile McLorin Salvant, Ingrid Jensen, Anat Cohen, Noriko Ueda, Allison Miller, and Renee Rosnes), and George Clinton and the parliament Funkadelic allstars.
Here are my visual interpretations of sounds I witnessed by the sea. Enjoy!
